The Pit
The Learning Pit is one way to make challenges more appealing to learners. It gives a frame of reference to talk about learning. It also helps with planning, reviewing and metacognition.
We incorporate the Pit in lessons and encourage pupils to consider which ladders/strategies they can use to try to climb out of the Pit. This will help to embed the idea that challenge is vital if we are to learn.
